COVID-19 Update | Savannah Speech & Hearing Center

Important Message Regarding COVID-19

Update 3/24/2020

TO OUR PATIENTS…

We know the current situation is unsettling and hope that you are finding ways to stay safe. We have been carefully monitoring the health and safety updates related to the Coronavirus (COVID-19), and while we have taken many precautions to date, the safety of our patients and staff is most important.

Although this is a difficult decision, we have temporarily closed our office as of 03/25/2020. We will be following guidance from the state and local governments concerning a possible date to reopen.

SPEECH THERAPY PATIENTS: We are offering teletherapy for our speech therapy patients. If you would like to receive speech therapy via teletherapy, please contact Dvora Gottlieb at dgottlieb@speechandhearingsav.org.

HEARING/AUDIOLOGY PATIENTS: If you are a hearing aid patient and have an immediate need, please contact Dr. Sheana Richardson at srichardson@speechandhearingsav.org

If you are a cochlear implant patient and are having issues with your equipment, please contact Cochlear Americas at 1-800-483-3123. For any other concerns about your cochlear implant, please contact Dr. Richardson at the email address listed above.

We appreciate your loyalty, patience, and understanding. Please stay safe and take care of yourselves and your families as we all weather this time of uncertainty together. We will continue to communicate with you through social media and email.

A MESSAGE TO OUR PATIENTS AND FUTURE PATIENTS:

In keeping with guidelines and recommendations from the Center for Disease Control and from the local infection control doctors during this time of concern about the spread of the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19), we are making some temporary changes in the practice patterns and recommendations for the patients that we are honored to serve. We are OPEN and eager to continue to work with you! We know information is fluid and constantly changing; however, this is our current plan. Please be patient as we will continue to make these difficult decisions in the coming weeks.

During this time of “national state of emergency”, we request that visitors and family members (including children and babies) be limited. This will help protect the health and safety of those beloved family members as well as other patients and our staff. If family or friends do accompany patients then they will be asked to remain in their cars until the patient evaluation/ therapy is complete.

THERAPY PATIENTS:

For the next few weeks, we are offering “curbside service” to our families. We are asking parents and siblings to remain in your cars as our waiting room will be closed to weekly therapy patients. When you see your therapist at the door, you may walk your child directly to them. Your child will be taken to wash their hands and then to their therapy room for their regular session. At the end of the session, your child will be walked to the door and you will pick them up there. Your therapists will email you session updates to limit the time spent at the door. While your child is inside, please call the front desk at 912-355-4601 to make your payment over the phone. The cleaning protocols we have put into place will continue.

We are working on tele-therapy options that may be preferable to you.

If you do not plan to keep your regularly scheduled appointment, please let your therapist or the front office know. We will keep you apprised of any additional changes to the Center.

AUDIOLOGY (HEARING) AND NEW PATIENTS:

We ask that you limit your visit to the patient and one family member (or significant other). Patients for audiology services and new patients will enter the front door. If additional people accompany patients then they will be asked to remain in their cars until the patient visit is complete.

If you are coming for a hearing aid check, please call the front office (912-355-4601) and we will come out to the car and get your hearing aid. After checking, we will return it to you.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to us for questions and concerns. Follow us on Facebook for updates. Thank you and stay healthy.
