We’re excited to share an opportunity to support innovative and thoughtful research from Sanskruti Deshpande, an MFA User Experience Design student at the Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD). Ms. Deshpande is conducting research for her thesis focused on improving everyday communication experiences for Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals—especially in situations that can feel challenging, frustrating, or unsupported.
As part of this work, I have designed an early smart glasses prototype concept that explores ways technology might better support communication in daily life. The concept includes features such as live captions, support in noisy environments, group conversation assistance, and alerts for important environmental sounds, with the goal of making everyday interactions feel clearer, easier, and more confident. – Sanskruti Deshpande
Ms. Deshpande is currently seeking individuals with moderate to profound hearing loss to participate in user testing.
The purpose of this testing is to gather feedback on the concept, understand real communication challenges, and learn what kinds of support would feel most useful in everyday life.
Participation is of course completely voluntary, confidential, and used solely for this academic research.
