They think it’s play—but we know it’s work! At Savannah Speech & Hearing Center, our Pediatric Occupational Therapy program helps children develop the skills they need to thrive in daily life, all while engaging in meaningful and enjoyable activities.
Children’s primary “occupations” are play, learning, social participation, and self-care—and when a child struggles in one or more of these areas, it can impact their confidence, relationships, and overall well-being. That’s where our expert Occupational Therapists (OTs) come in.
Using developmentally appropriate strategies and the power of play, our OTs evaluate and treat children with physical, sensory, or cognitive challenges. The goal? To help each child achieve greater independence, functional skills, and confidence, at home, at school, and in the community.

Our Approach: Family-Centered, Skill-Building, and Fun
At Savannah Speech & Hearing Center, we believe that caregivers are essential partners in a child’s progress. From the first session, we work closely with families to build trust and create therapy plans that reflect your child’s needs and your family’s goals.
We recognize that many parents come to us with concerns like:
- “Why is my child struggling with feeding or dressing?”
- “Is this sensory behavior typical?”
- “Why is handwriting so hard for my child?”
These questions are normal—and our team is here to provide answers, encouragement, and support.
Therapy is designed to feel like play, but every activity is carefully selected to promote specific skills such as:
- Fine motor development and hand coordination
- Sensory processing and self-regulation
- Visual-motor and perceptual skills
- Feeding, grooming, and other self-care routines
- Attention, executive functioning, and social interaction
- Participation in school, home, and community routines

Our mission is to enable them to better interact with their surroundings, and engage in the world with more confidence. We also collaborate closely with our Speech-Language Pathologists and Physical Therapists when a team approach will best support your child’s development.
Our Pediatric Occupational Therapist

Why It Matters
Knowing where your body is in space, how to move through that space, and how to process and filter information from the environment (lights, sounds, movement, textures) is foundational to success in play, learning, and life. For some children, these skills are harder to develop—and that’s okay. We’re here to help.
Whether your child has difficulty sitting still, struggles with dressing, avoids certain textures, or has trouble keeping up in the classroom, our therapists are ready to meet them where they are—and guide them toward where they want to be.
