Since 1954, we have served our community with the mission of providing access to comprehensive speech, hearing, language, and other therapeutic services that empower and transform lives. One of our most impactful programs is Sound Start, launched in 2007 as an early intervention auditory-verbal program for children who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Sound Start provides intensive instruction for children with cochlear implants or hearing aids, helping them learn to make full use of their listening technology and develop spoken language skills. Our goal is for each child to successfully transition into a mainstream elementary classroom. It is a truly life-changing program—for both the children and their families.
Like all of our services, Sound Start is offered without regard to a family’s financial means, made possible through our scholarship program. The Hammond for Hope Benefit plays a vital role in sustaining these scholarships and ensuring this transformational program remains accessible to every child who needs it.
