We are excited to announce that Savannah Speech & Hearing Center will offer a weekly Torticollis Clinic with screenings beginning in February 2026. The best part? This is a free service!
These free 30-minute screening appointments will be available every Monday. The dedicated appointments ensure quick access for families with concerns about head shape, head turning, or early motor development.
Families do not need to attend the clinic to receive services. You may schedule a full evaluation at any time, and infants with torticollis concerns are prioritized so we can see them quickly. Early intervention is essential and babies with torticollis often make the fastest progress when they begin physical therapy with a skilled pediatric physical therapist earlier.
What is Torticollis?
Torticollis occurs when tight or imbalanced neck muscles make it harder for a baby to turn their head evenly. This can lead to:
- Preference to look in one direction
- Head tilt
- Flattening on one side of the head
- Difficulty during tummy time
- Asymmetry in early motor skills

Since the blog was written, a 2024 updated version was released! This means that your therapist is equipped with the most up to date tools and research to help you.
What Happens During the Free 30-Minute Screening?
- Assess your baby’s posture
- Observe baby’s neck range of motion
- Monitor movement patterns
- Check head shape
- Answer your questions
- Help determine whether a full evaluation would be beneficial
If Further Support Is Needed
If the screening suggests your baby may benefit from ongoing therapy:
- We guarantee that we can offer a full evaluation appointment within 7 days
- Families may choose a later date if they prefer specific times or scheduling
- You will receive a comprehensive assessment and individualized treatment plan
- Follow up visits are tailored to your baby’s needs and progress
This system ensures that infants with torticollis can be seen quickly, capturing the important early window when treatment is most effective.
Families may also choose to skip the clinic and schedule a full evaluation directly.
Who Should Come In?
A screening or evaluation can help if your baby:
- Looks mostly to one side
- Holds their head tilted
- Has flattening on the head
- Struggles with tummy time
- Shows delayed or asymmetrical early motor skills
- Was born prematurely or experienced a difficult delivery
- Pediatrician has expressed concerns – or if you personally notice something different
